Tuturau Primary School

Tuturau is a rural, two teacher contributing school in the Lower Mataura Valley area of Eastern Southland. Tuturau is situated on Shanks Road, between Mataura and Wyndham. Just under half of the school families are from the Mataura town ship. The other families live in the rural community and are a mixture of sheep farmers, dairy farmers, farm cottage dwellers and others who live on life-style sized blocks. Our local area has an interesting and significant history and we believe it is important to share this with our children.We are part of a local cluster of schools in the Lower Mataura Valley, and we value this network that contributes to learning for students, staff and board. Tuturau School is governed by a committed board of trustees, and is well supported by the Tuturau Waikana Fundraising Society.
